Gardening Tricks

Gardening Tricks:

It turns out that working on your home garden can be a lot of work. The bottom line is that the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. But we at Harbourview Property Management try to stick to the old adage, “work smarter, not harder”. Below we have a few tips and tricks to make your gardening life a little easier.

Going Green:
Many gardeners say they have a green thumb. But did you know that you can go green by replanting many of your store bought leftovers? You can replant everyday things that like potatoes, onions, garlic, avocados, and even celery!

Staying Green:
There are a few ways to keep green by using compostable items from around your house to plant seedlings. Folding one side of a spent toilet paper roll makes an excellent planter. Even cracked eggshells will do the trick as a seedling’s temporary home.

Going away?
Keeping up on your gardening while away is a little tricky. Don’t let your plants die while you’re on vacation. With this simple trick using a paper towel, you can keep them watered while you are away. Place one end of the towel in the soil, and the other your water source. The water will make its way from the source to the dry areas. It will slowly water itself!

Tools of the trade:
You can’t neglect your gardening tools once the day is through. To keep them free of rust, try storing them in a bucket filled with sand.

Gardening can certainly consume your time. Sometimes the last thing you want to do on a nice summer day is to spend it pulling weeds. Just remember that the best trick of all is that Harbourview Property Management is only a phone call away. “You’re busy. Let us do the work!”
