May Long Weekend
Well another May long weekend is here. Known as Victoria Day weekend for all of you true patriots. For some of us it’s just an extra day off to Netflix and chill, and to the other go-getters out there, it’s another weekend to get out and have some fun!
This long weekend the Southern Georgian Bay area is bustling with activities, festivals, concerts, and even a Riverdance show (yeah you just read that). Here are only a few things to do this Victoria Day Weekend.
1 – Garage Sales
Our area is booming with spring cleaning and about a billion or so garage sales, give or take. Most long weekends are, but this is the first long weekend of the year that has nice enough weather to enjoy an outdoor sale. Check the local paper (in our case The Mirror) to get a listing of some in the area, sharpen your pencil and put your bargaining hat on, and go have some fun.
2 – Music
In Midland on Friday from 4:00pm – 11:00pm at the Midland Cultural Centre returns the Ukulele Festival. World class ukulele professionals from around the world will be making some big music with tiny instruments. And for music and a show this long weekend, check out Riverdance at Casino Rama at 9:00pm.
3 – Arts and Entertainment
This Saturday downtown Collingwood turns its streets into an art gallery. This even lasts from 9:00am – 5:00pm and will have something for all of you art lovers out there. For a little outside of the box kind of art, Orillia is hosting its own Comic-Con 2017. It will be loaded with over 100 exhibits of pop-culture, comics, sci-fi and fantasy. Tickets are free for kids under 12. Orillia Comic-Con 2017 will be at the Orillia Geneva Event Centre from 10:00am – 6:00pm.
