Good old WD-40…
We’re back at it again with the blue can. Since its creation in 1953 from Rocket Chemical Company the applications just don’t seem to end. It only took them 40 tries to get it perfected. Hence the name WD-40 (or Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try). Let’s explore a few more tricks that this magical liquid has to offer.

Deice your locks:
Winter will be here in a flash. Don’t get tuck with an iced lock. Using the extension tube, get some WD into the keyhole to keep in running smoothly and ice free. And as a preventative measure, applying some to any outdoor padlocks will prevent them from seizing up.

Remove Stuck Rings from your fingers:
When butter just won’t do, use WD-40 to get stubborn rings off of your fingers.

Pest Control:
Spray some onto areas that you want free of pests. If a beaver is gnawing your favorite tree, spray the bark as a preventative. I can’t imagine the taste is optimal.
Remove shoe scuffs from tile:
Did your black soled shoes leave a mark or two? Spray some directly onto the affected area and wipe immediately with paper towel or microfiber cloth. Make sure you clean off the WD-40 after so you don’t end up wiping out on a slick surface.

Remove blue ink from your jeans:
I’m guilty of leaving a pen in my pocket. Sometimes the pen gets motion sick while I’m walking a throws up. Use some WD on the ink stain directly, then rinse to help remove the stain all together.

Clean off chewing gum from any surface:
Doesn’t matter what kind of gum, or what kind of surface, WD-40 can get you out of a sticky situation. Applying this freeing fluid unsticks the sticky. It can even be used to get gum out of hair! (just give it a good wash after as it is labeled as both poisonous and flammable)
